Classes and Workshops

The support for these classes has been powerful, inspirational, and so much more!    I honor your dedication to this healing practice and plan to continue teaching online, as this allows me to reach so many more of you.  The schedule will fluctuate gently over time. Here is a summary of the recent changes:

  1.  Due to longer daylight hours the Friday & Sunday classes will begin 1 hour earlier.
  2.  Tuesday evening class is extended an additional 15 minutes.  Practitioners may attend the Internal Alchemy portion only, as this is a powerful, developmental skill.
  3.  Saturday morning class begins 30 minutes later, as I am taking a class beforehand.

NOTE that the Links, Meeting IDs & Passwords listed will stay THE SAME.

Any and all skill levels welcome, so feel free to drop in and try any of the offerings.

PREPARATION:   A relatively empty, un-caffeinated belly – wear comfortable, layered clothing. We are typically in bare feet, ‘sticky socks’ are an option, or wearing of supportive shoes if necessary.  All classes can be modified for a seated position.

PLEASE NOTE THAT beginning in June, everyone will be required to sign up with ZOOM in order to authenticate themselves, as a result of their continued efforts in creating account and meeting security.  So, at some point you will want to do that prior to that time.

Otherwise, click on the link for each particular class.  A screen will appear that says “Launching…”  A box will drop down with the option to “Open URL:Zoom Launcher” CLICK on it.  ENTER the PASSWORD.  You will then be put into a ‘waiting room’ until I start the class.  I typically “open” the meeting 15 minutes beforehand.  If arrival after start time, you will automatically be admitted.  It is good to get set up a few minutes ahead of time so that you are ready to practice.  You can even start with some shaking or other warm up exercises on your own.

Optionally, sign into your account at, click Join a Meeting, enter Meeting ID and PASSWORD.  Click on the box that appears with the option of “Open URL:Zoom Launcher.”

Once you are ‘in the meeting,’ you can click upper right option for either Speaker (me) or Gallery (everyone) View.  You can also click on the tiny box in the upper right corner of the screen that shows my image – click on it and then click on “Pin Me.”  I mute participants in order to keep down the background noise.  A red line across the mic icon indicates that a mic is turned off – be sure mine is ON for you by clicking on it.  Your camera can be off (I can’t see you) or on (I see you in a small screen).  The Chat button allows you to type in a comment or question, which is then displayed on the right side of the screen.

INTERNAL ALCHEMY & GENDER FORMS ~ Tuesdays 6:00-7:15 p.m.

This practice is a seated meditation that utilizes breath work and the esoteric Daoist locks to cultivate one’s inmost qi or vital force.  Internal Alchemy also lifts the Jing, or procreative and sexual energy. It is the spiritual and physical process by which we incorporate the greater cosmos with the micro cosmos of the self.  Energies in the greater cosmos are also present within our own bodies. Internal Alchemy, or Jing Retrieval, We will utilize the esoteric Daoist lock – the hui yin (Meeting of the Yin) – at the root muscles of the perineum to gain more awareness, control of them. The practice is particularly useful for those healing from chronic illness. This particular form or style of Internal Alchemy was developed by Zhen Dao, my teacher at the MogaDao Institute in Santa Fe, and serves as the foundation for the Sacred Daoist Sexuality practices taught there.

By repeating the series precisely during each class, students can learn the form and ideally perform it on their own at home.  Subtle refinements are learned with each practice.

NOTE: if you are interested only in the Internal Alchemy, you are welcome to attend the first portion of the class (approx. 30 minutes).

We follow with:

This Series of six forms uses gender to articulate aspects of Qi in the sexual body. They are not meant to be limiting in terms of gender identity. Individuals who identify as women can effectively practice the “men’s” forms for the cultivation of the Yang energies that characterize those particular forms.  Likewise, those identifying as males can do the same with the “female” forms. We cultivate both Yin & Yang essence in the body. Our essence energy is basically procreative energy, which we build through these forms. It does not matter whether you are in a physical relationship with someone. We use the resulting energies cultivated in the forms to express ourselves in all of our various unique ways.

In this class you will learn the particulars and the flow of these six forms, as we repeat them each week, after enlivening and lifting the Qi through the Internal Alchemy practice.

STANDING MEDITATION ~ Wednesdays 8:00-9:00 a.m. & Fridays 8:00-9:00 a.m.

For centuries the ancient art of building internal strength was a closely guarded secret, passed down within families or from masters to their students. The Standing Form of Meditation is a fundamental part of many Qigong styles, as it is one of the best ways to build one’s Qi. Known in Chinese as Zhan Zhuang or “growing from within,” we generate energy without movement. The mind stays more connected to the body and the practice affects the body even more positively than seated meditation. This exercise is one of the very most effective for capturing and combining energy from the cosmos. The stillness cultivates internal movement and strength by utilizing these two great forces. All bodily systems benefit.

In this class, we will gradually build out time standing to 20 minutes, while learning to relax the body completely.

We follow with:

The full name of this system is Shaolin Temple Internal Energy One-Finger Zen. The full name of this Qigong system means “a meditative internal energy healing system that trains the fingers and hands to sense and transmit qi.” We learn the flow of a particular set of hand movements as we build sensitivity in the hands. This sensitivity enhances our Qigong practice, and is also beneficial for any who use their hands in the healing arts. I learned this practice from a workshop I attended with Qigong Master and Professor Kenneth Cohen

In this class, we will practice the One Finger Zen series each time as we build sensitivity in the hands.

Followed by:

This series incorporates human ‘architectures’ or poses and follows a systematic pattern with respect to the powers and energies enhanced in each of the stances – fluidly connected and carefully considered.  “Hieratic” refers to a heightened sacred and devotional attitude suited to the invocation of power.  Typically, we remain in each stance for a relatively brief time (about five breaths) in order to harvest, absorb, and express the harmony of each, without moving into organ Qi. Each stance may also be utilized individually, as psycho-spiritual and physical medicine.

In each class we will go over in great detail both the particulars of the individual stances and the transitions between them, ideally enabling practitioners to learn the series on their own.

QIGONG HEALING FORMS Thursdays 6:00-7:00 p.m. & Sundays 8:00-9:00 a.m.

In these classes, we will start with some warm ups and then move into a variety of Qigong forms, based on current need in order to create general healing, balance and tonifying. Each class will vary with the forms that are presented, based on the current need.

MORNING MEDICAL QIGONG ~ Saturdays 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Class will begin with warm ups and then move into the eleven-forms of the MogaDao Morning Medical Qigong. This series of forms cover the entire organ system of TCM. In addition to the energetic and physical aspects, the forms represent and engage a vast array of Zhen Dao’s psycho-spiritual resources or archetypes within the human consciousness. The combination of these two aspects makes this particular series powerful and useful – medically and spiritually. The forms are strung together, taichi-like, gracefully and fluidly in such a way that the energy or Qi that one is building is not lost or drained. Great benefit will result, in terms of physical vitality and flourishing.

Attendees of all levels will either be introduced to this series, or deepen their current understanding, gradually expanding in the depth of these forms.
